Water in the city can meet the walkers under very many forms: River, mountain stream, different fountains and water basins, cool streets with water spray and water hose.
Each stage of this tour is about the role that these waters have played and continue to play for the city’s inhabitants.
The history of Vienna, of transport and trade, of river regulation, of architecture, of diseases and their control, of the drinking water supply for the inhabitants and of the current fight against the heating up of the city through environmental and climate protection is linked to water.
The aim is to perceive the essential importance of water and the need to protect this precious source of life in the context of climate change, thanks to the implementation of appropriate sustainable measures.
