The walk begins at the protected municipality estate “Jean-Jaures Hof”, which was built during “Red Vienna” era and embodies its characteristic features.

The route to Biotope City takes us passing by allotment garden settlements, another form of housing in Vienna. Their more than 100-year history and significance are explained during the tour.

Passing the “Wienerberg” recreation area, we reach Biotope City, which is a special neighborhood development in the direction of climate-conscious living. The name of the development says it all: An urban biotope has been created here and is constantly evolving. For this reason, Biotope City has also been one of 9 IBA Vienna (International Building Exhibition) projects in recent years, where ecological and social sustainability are practiced.
