Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus is the sub-district in Vienna with the fewest green spaces, but is nevertheless a pioneering district in terms of climate protection and climate adaptation. On the tour across the district, we get to know some of the innovative climate protection measures. We pass the world’s first zero-energy balance hotel, Vienna’s first bicycle lane and the first sponge street. What other green environmental projects are planned for the future?

The walk begins in the Nibelungen district and continues to Reindorf. We explore the development in the neighborhood around the new IKEA building as well as the future urban development area “Westbahngründe”.

During the tour, we also take a look at the district’s eventful past. We will experience at first hand where the double name of the district comes from and what this division still means for everyday life today. Following in the footsteps of Jewish Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, we visit the memorial site in Turnergasse, where one of Vienna’s most important temples was once located.

At the end of our walk, another surprise awaits us: the little-known urban wilderness in Auer-Welsbach Park, a wonderful place to linger and enjoy.

We also discuss which sustainable projects are planned or realized in the future.
